Prosecutors just made a major announcement about President Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen days after his office was raided.
Daily Mail reported that prosecutors said that Cohen is under investigation for “fraud, largely” because of his personal dealings. This was revealed in court filings in which the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York stated that it raided Cohen’s office, home and hotel room and broken into his safety deposit box on Monday seeking evidence of crimes after “months of investigation.”
Details of what these crimes were exactly were redacted by prosecutors, but the documents said they “sound in fraud and evidence a lack of truthfulness” and involved “acts of concealment.” Prosecutors also said that Cohen had extensive business dealings which had nothing to do with being a lawyer,. then attacked him as barely “engaged in any significant practice of law.”
Cohen was also accused of making untrue claims and exaggerations in his own statements and filings, and prosecutors hinted that they feared he would destroy evidence if he had the chance. The New York Times revealed that Trump called Cohen personally on Friday morning to “check in with him.”
This came days after Trump defended Cohen and slammed officials for the raid. Trump slammed White House Special Counsel Robert Mueller for allowing the raid to take place.
“So they find no collusion, and then they go from there and they say, ‘Well, let’s keep going,’” Trump stated. “And they raid an office of a personal attorney early in the morning, and I think it’s a disgrace.”

When asked if he would fire Mueller, Trump replied, “We’ll see what happens,” and, “Many people have said you should fire him.”
